Cloud Computing: Not Just A Passing Fad

In 10 years, cloud computing will be the main way we use technology, according to a survey by Pew Research Center’s Internet & American Life Project and Elon University’s Imagining the Internet Center.

A majority of the 895 people surveyed agreed that soon, most people will not be working with software running on a general-purpose PC. Instead they will work in Web-based applications such as Google Docs, and in applications run from smart phones. In addition, the most innovative application development will be done for Smartphone vendors and Internet-based applications.
Outside of the business world, the cloud revolution has already begun. The Internet browser (a cloud interface) is already the most popular PC application, and cloud services like Facebook and Twitter are the most popular computing services.
